Hi all, I know this update is several days late but that's because I was terminated by my day job earlier this Monday. There's a certain irony in getting laid off while writing a game about a guy getting laid off.  In a very twisted sense of humor, I couldn't help but think, "Wow, this is going to give me some personal experience with getting laid off and dealing with bureaucracy during the active pandemic! The game will be so much more relatable now."

I've taken the time this week to apply to things such as Unemployment Benefits, food stamps, federal health insurance, mutual aid grants, etc. while meeting up with my therapist and making plans to talk to career specialists this coming week. It turns out that working a physical labor job that left me sore and recovering for almost an entire week before going back into my shift was not actually giving me enough proper exercise to be less strict with my diet, so it's vital that I find a new job that will actually make accommodations for my disabilities while allowing me to work in a COVID-conscious environment. Seeing as to how the market for remote positions is so competitive though, this will likely drain my mental and emotional energy. Folks don't seem to understand that "even if the worst thing that happens is a rejection," a constant bombardment of no's will eventually wear down anyone's mental health.

As always, I'll be chipping away at progress at the script, but considering the circumstances I can't really guarantee consistent progress.
