Version 1.1 + Sale!

Version 1.1 of Lotus: The Self-Made Witch has been released! We hope that you all have been enjoying the game so far. This update gets Lotus one step closer to being ready for Steam and Google Play, and includes the following changes:

  • Back end code for the Accessibility Settings screen first shown when launching the game has been optimized
  • Game menu screens now have bar for the navigation buttons
  • Text overflow issue on the Save/Load buttons has been fixed
  • Odd padding on the right of the Potion Results screen has been addressed
  • Minor typos fixed
  • Missing SFX added in certain scenes
  • Extras menu is now accessible, with Endings, Illustrations, and Music Room available now

Some of these updates may unfortunately break old saves, so we apologize for the inconvenience. Please note that Cauldron Mode (a gameplay mode where players may brew any potions at your leisure) and the Recipe List screen are currently under construction, and should be available by Version 1.2. Planned game features for V 1.2 are as follows:

  • A camera toggle for those with Motion Sickness concerns, which will change movement of the camera to a softer dissolve
  • An ingredients list with descriptions during regular gameplay, to help players remember what they've put in their cauldrons
  • Aforementioned Cauldron Mode, which will allow players to brew potions outside of the main game to complete the Recipe List
  • The Recipe List screen, which will display details about ingredients and each of the 27 types of potions

In addition to these features, we would like to include the following content for V 1.2:

  • A proper title screen illustration ($300)
  • Additional sprite edits ($40)
  • One more song, for the bad endings ($60)
  • An epilogue for the 4th Ending, which includes writing, editing, and programming ($100)

After we create the additional content, we're confident that the game will be able to perform on the Steam and Google Play storefronts.

Making games is expensive, even for the "short and simple" ones. The initial release of Lotus cost a little over USD$1000 to produce, not counting the time and labor that the producer put into coordinating everything, and not even factoring in the cost of marketing afterwards. At this time, we are running a sale simply to fund the above content, and we hope that sales from the other storefronts will be enough to break even on the total cost of production. At 40% off (USD$3), we need to sell a minimum of 167 copies to fund the extra content. You can view the sale here.

Thank you for your time, and we hope that you continue to enjoy Lotus: The Self-Made Witch.
